The Alberta Society for the Promotion of Sexual Health (ASPSH) (www.aspsh.ca) promotes optimal sexual and reproductive health and well-being throughout the lifespan for all through
- Comprehensive sexuality education
- Public education
- Advocacy
- Acquisition, utilization and distribution of information and resources
- Networking and support
The Community Health Nursing Unit (CHNU) in the Faculty of Nursing, University of Calgary (www.ucalgary.ca/NU/research/chnu) supports the health of communities and populations through strategic partnerships that promote excellence in practice, education, and research.
Through the 7th Biennial Western Canadian Conference on Sexual Health, ASPSH and CHNU will create a forum to explore Building Sexually Healthy Communities ¨C how they are developed, supported, and maintained. Papers that address collaborative partnerships, public policy creation, community development and the need to dialogue about these issues are invited.
Specific conference themes include:
-Accessibility
- Cultural competence
- Generational awareness
- Diversity
- Skill Development
- Creating connections
Anticipated conference participants include educators, nurses, social workers, clergy, correctional staff, child care and youth workers, physicians, other health care professionals and support staff, university faculty and students, and the general public. Conference attendance is projected at between 150 and 200 participants.
Instructions to submit an abstract (electronic submissions only please):
- Complete the attached abstract form
- Include your name, agency affiliation, address, and contact information
- Indicate your presentation type (oral presentation, research paper, workshop), preferred audience size, and conference themes covered
- Include a double spaced, 1 page abstract
- Submission deadline is Friday October 21, 2005 at 6:00pm (email ONLY)
